Just Chillin’ • baby photography miami studio

Emilia’s 4 month session was quick and sweet. This stage is sometimes very easy to photograph as it was the case with this little angel. Since most babies can’t do much else other than lift up on their bellies and make funny faces, you have a very willing and captive subject. Emilia was very concerned with everything going on around her so she was very pensive and focused and hesitant to shower us with anything more than smirks and the occasional half smile. Hence she just sat back and chilled. We got very few of those gum-showing wonders, but got some beautiful pensive exceptional looks. Here she is…I love her eyes. ♥

Kids will be Kids • children kids photography miami

You have to go with the flow…and let kids be kids! You can see what I mean in this session. I was photographing four children (two sets of siblings who are first cousins), 3 boys and 1 girl. They were perfectly rambunctious, running around, tripping, laughing, and of course, not wanting to stop for anything. I loved their energy and excitement, so I captured a few fun playful shots; and, believe it or not, I got them to stop long enough to get some portraits as well. We went to the beach area after that and got some more fun frames there too. Fortunately, both Moms were fantastic and they let the kids be themselves, which is always the key to a great session.

urban mama • pregnancy portraits miami photography

It’s always fun when my clients say, “I wanna do something different”. I’ve been photographing this family since pregnancy #1 and we’ve done many sessions since then, so Mom wanted to do something different for yet-to-be-named baby #2. We’ve done the park, the beach, the studio, and their home, so for this session we went a little urban. It’s always helpful that they are just a gorgeous family inside and out. Plus when you get to that comfort level where you can just talk and relax and shoot it’s just magic. I loved so many shots so I made an extra long post. I can’t wait to photograph baby boy #2. See you soon guys!!!  ♥ Vanessa

Loving it • family baby portrait photography miami

You may notice that there are more black and white shots in this post than usual, which leads me to realize that I’m sort of leaning back towards black and white images again after an exciting love affair with color images. I love how BW images bring your attention straight to the expressions and the feel for the photo. By stripping the image completely of the distraction of color, you focus solely on the people, the expressions, and the spirit of the image. Don’t worry, I’m not going to shoot exclusively in BW now, but I will be shooting with BW in mind more than I had been. So, get ready for some awesomeness in the future.

Being that Father’s day is this coming Sunday, I thought I would start this post with two very sweet photos of Dad and his little ones. I love how relaxed they are. This was Zoe’s 4 month session and she brought along the whole family…such a treat. I’ve photographed big brother Aidan (and family) since he was 1 week old and look at him now! You can tell how much Zoe loves her brother. She mostly smiled when he played with her. I can’t wait until Zoe’s next session which will be at 8 months when she’s sitting up all on her own. Beautiful family don’t you think?

crazy fun • family kids photos miami

When it comes to photographing kids, the only thing that is certain is that it is unpredictable. You can have all sorts of plans and ideas about the session, pre-visualizing the shots you’d love to get with the props you’re bringing along; but, ALWAYS, the kids will be the ones making the final decision on how the session goes and ultimately what shots you will get. This unpredictability is one of my favorite things about photographing kids…it is always new! That’s exactly what this session was like, completely and utterly unpredictable, and so fantastic! There’s such a natural, spontaneous and relaxed vibe that it is just magical. These beautiful sisters wanted to photograph their kids together and were completely at ease with letting the kids be kids. Here are a few of my faves…. ♥
