Alison called a week before she was due hopeful that she would get a maternity session done before she gave birth. She really wanted soft afternoon lighting for her photos because she had not gotten what she wanted for her wedding. I had no availability for an afternoon session before her due date and could only accommodate her in the morning. She was very excited… that is until I said we would have to shoot at 7:30 in the morning! Yep. That’s what we did. I’m not quite a morning person… okay fine, I’m not a morning person AT ALL lol; but for great photos I’ll do almost anything. I was a little groggy so I forgot my purse at home, fortunately not my phone or camera bag. Once we got there the light was divine which perked me right up. We wrapped it up at the beach, had a little breakfast at a French bakery and went to the studio to do a second shoot. Alison is a very creative designer so I had a ton of fun making images that were more expressive and artistic. Here’s a snippet of both shoots. Enjoy! ♥ Vanessa

My Baby, that’s what Meu Bebê means in Portuguese. Anna and Rafael are Brazilian transplants that moved to Miami a couple of years ago because of his work. I was very impressed by Anna’s English (having only lived here for two years) and as I mentioned that to her, Rafael said to me “she impresses me every day”. Wow. They oozed love for each other and for their coming bebê. I’m looking forward to and honored to be documenting their baby’s first year of life, and witnessing more of this gorgeous couple as they become a family. Enjoy! ♥ Vanessa

Yes, it’s another beautiful Mommy-to-be on the blog! When Annette first called to book her maternity session and baby shower event, we discussed all the different details including the baby’s name. She said: “His name is Logan”. I said: “as in Wolverine?”. She laughed (I did too nervously hoping she knew what I was talking about). “Yes!”, she said. At that moment I knew it was going to be a blast getting to know Annette, Logan and the whole family. That feeling became fact when she booked a photo shoot for her other baby boy…her Yorkie, who she named – you ready for this? – Chewbacca! Are you kidding me? I LOVE it! You can see a sneak peek of Chewey on our Facebook page. :) I’ll be posting those on the blog this week. As you can see, her maternity shoot was just perfect. The day of this beautiful couple’s maternity shoot was absolutely perfect. That is until we started shooting, of course. “Murphy” showed up with a huge rain storm complete with scary movie-like lightning and thunder…it was literally raining sideways. We rescheduled for another Saturday, but as Mom-to-be was almost due she was not feeling well. We rescheduled again to almost a week prior to her delivery and opted to complete the shoot in the studio because she was barely able to walk from back pain. I was so amazed at how she managed to still smile and enjoy her shoot. These two are so adorable together. So excited to photograph baby (who should have arrived already). Enjoy! ♥ Vanessa

This gorgeous couple came into the studio for their first baby’s maternity photos on a really stormy day that almost succeeded in washing out Quiana’s hopes for beautiful pregnancy photos. They were driving in rush-hour traffic, in separate cars and in crazy weather. Yet, they were able to turn it on like stars. Although Quiana forgot her outfits, we were able to improvise and come up with pretty cool options. Little Santana will be born at the end of November and maybe he’ll also be a football star like Daddy. Enjoy! ♥ Vanessa

Here’s a sneak peek of a maternity session from a couple of weeks ago. It was really hot, one of the few days that didn’t get rained out that week, and absolutely beautiful. This pregnant beauty was smart and sassy, and really relaxed about her shoot. We talked a lot and captured many beautiful images. Can’t wait to photograph baby soon. Enjoy! ♥ Vanessa

This maternity session was so sweet, quiet, and relaxed. We were able to fit in the session right before the holidays and, although a little warm for that time of year, the weather was ridiculously beautiful and the light equally dreamy….just pure love and joy. Sharon and Eduardo are having their first baby and could not be more over the moon. She’s due any day now and will probably be welcoming baby sometime next week. Can’t wait to meet and photograph the little munchkin. ♥ Vanessa

This maternity session was discussed and set-up with Liliana within 4 days. She was worried that the baby might come a little early, so we scheduled her shoot in the studio to avoid the uncertainty of weather affecting the shoot. I love the simplicity and beauty of these shots. She was really relaxed and couldn’t be any sweeter. I seriously can’t ask for better clients. Liliana, quedaste espectacular! …you make some of the softest, sweetest shots that you can imagine. We started the session with beautiful sunshine as you can see in the first shot. Not forty minutes later, a big dark cloud came to threaten Melissa’s maternity shoot. It just poured down in bucket loads, but, we would not be deterred – specially because she and Dad-to-be had driven down from Boca Raton for this session. So, we took cover from the rain and continued shooting through it in a sweet soft almost window-like light. I love it when the sessions just go with the flow like this; of course it helps when your clients are really easy-going, fun and two of the nicest people you’ll meet. Melissa and Coley, you were both fantastic. Can’t wait to photograph the little peanut. ♥ Vanessa

It’s always fun when my clients say, “I wanna do something different”. I’ve been photographing this family since pregnancy #1 and we’ve done many sessions since then, so Mom wanted to do something different for yet-to-be-named baby #2. We’ve done the park, the beach, the studio, and their home, so for this session we went a little urban. It’s always helpful that they are just a gorgeous family inside and out. Plus when you get to that comfort level where you can just talk and relax and shoot it’s just magic. I loved so many shots so I made an extra long post. I can’t wait to photograph baby boy #2.
