I had the pleasure of photographing a very talented and sweet quinceañera whose style was all about the eighties, music and broadway. Emily’s tender shy demeanor hides her vast pool of talent and I’m certain once she realizes how much power she holds with her talent she’ll soar like the star that she is. What a gentle beauty Natalie is. She had a magical teal dress that seemed to match everything around us. We did some shots with little sister Rachel who is a bucket of love, so cute! Everything was just lovely. Even with the crazies that came out at the last location fabulousness ensued. Enjoy! ♥ Vanessa

To mark Ashley’s “Quince Primaveras” (Fifteen Springs) we did 3 shoots over 4 days. They were all incredible which is why this post took me forever to do and why it has so many images. The studio session was a favorite because she was so ‘game’ for my Spring showers concept and it came off without a hitch! Love those images. Yes, you can forget Dorothy’s ruby slippers. I fell in love with Alyssa’s fabulous sapphire heels. They literally caused me to gasp the first time I saw them…and I don’t even wear heels that much… who am I kidding, I almost NEVER wear heels; but I’d wear those in a heartbeat! Needless to say, this quinceañera’s photo session was stylish, fun and gorgeous. She had a very relaxed natural way about her that photographed beautifully. I was thrilled that she and Mom trusted me when I suggested the sunset/field concept; it’s one of my favorites from her session. Enjoy! ♥ Vanessa

Photographing Quinceañeras that are budding artists is always exciting as I get to imagine new ways of incorporating their art into their photos. For beautiful Briana’s session we had discussed a few ways of doing that, but they were not panning out. Then, a last minute location addition and a minor cold on my end (which caused a reschedule), invited the concept of bringing the easel to the beach to get some shots with her artwork. Of course, luck would have it that the beach location would be busy, add to that very windy, plus daylight was running out, and energy was running low after 3 hours of shooting. But, that last image was so worth it. The artwork in that is from Briana herself. Can you say talented? Briana, stay true and you will go far. Enjoy! ♥ Vanessa

While a little shy, Natalie possesses a quiet confidence that only comes from following your bliss…marching to the beat of your own drum. She’s an artist and knows what that means for her. What’s even more beautiful is that her Mom is completely supportive of her passion. The shoot had gone a little long and because she (and I) were a little tired we ALMOST scrapped the photos of Natalie with her artwork and what a sad thing that would have been. Fortunately Mom insisted and, in turn, energized me to go for it and I’m glad we did. LOVE that last shot. Natalie, you are on your way to greatness, keep it up! Enjoy! ♥ Vanessa

Everyone… meet Arabella. This sweet Quinceañera is a star in the making (even if she doesn’t quite agree with me). I think it’s telling that she loves stars because, soon enough, this rising star will shine high and bright. For now though she is somewhat skeptical of her star power; SO, I made an extra long post to try and sway her into realizing that her beauty is deep and her spirit is luminous. “The best things come in small packages” the saying goes…and it certainly applies here. Melanie is a kind, gentle, tender spirit that came to the studio for some modeling head shots. This is the second shoot I’ve done with Melanie but have photographed her and her family for over 5 years. In a way, this became a warm-up session for her Quince shoot coming up later this year (which we’re already starting to plan). She did more than fine don’t you think? This gorgeous Quinceañera is Dianela. A very serious and sweet girl with a neckline that’s a photographer’s dream…sooooo very Audrey Hepburn. Her shoot also got split in half because of weather and it took five reschedules before we were able to complete the beach portion. Two sessions, two months apart due to crazy life events and weather, but so awesome I can’t even begin. Wendy is stylish, confident, funny and beautifully composed for only fifteen.
