This gorgeous Quinceañera is Dianela. A very serious and sweet girl with a neckline that’s a photographer’s dream…sooooo very Audrey Hepburn. Her shoot also got split in half because of weather and it took five reschedules before we were able to complete the beach portion. Two sessions, two months apart due to crazy life events and weather, but so awesome I can’t even begin. Wendy is stylish, confident, funny and beautifully composed for only fifteen. From the moment we planned her sessions I knew they would be a blast and, what can I say…wow. Just look at these! She did amazing. Can’t wait to show her and her Mom all the images. Enjoy! ♥ Vanessa

All the way from West Virginia, Madison came to town with a sweet classy bohemian style that’s right up my alley. We did her graduation photos in 93° heat, but this cool grad was in perfect form. Loved her outfits, her accessories and her attitude even more. Mom was just as cool and fun. Had such a great time in this shoot. Madison, you’re gorgeous! This Quince photo session started out with a traditional dress in a traditional setting, the Vizcaya Museum, however it was not traditional in any other way. From the start Isabella knew she wanted something different, elegant and relaxed. So, that’s exactly what we did…and I loved all the images from this petite and vivacious girl. This kindred spirit is Carina, a beautiful, smart and confident young woman I had the pleasure of photographing the last week of April. Her Mom had called the week before about her daughter’s Quince portraits. I usually plan the sessions with plenty of time prior to the shoot date, but I was going to be out of town and Carina was going to be getting braces soon, so time was of the essence. We spoke on the phone about the styling, she e-mailed me photos of her outfits and we set the date, time and locations. On the day of the shoot, they came to the studio where we were kicking things off with a few fashion shots before heading out to the other two locations. I Got the music going, the fan for some hair action, and, from the first click, I knew this session was going to be magic. As the session moved on, I found out that Carina is a budding artist herself, she loves photography, is a dancer and is learning to play the guitar. LOVE it! When she and Mom were talking about her birthday party, I asked her when her birthday was, and we share the same birthday! Well, needless to say, this session kicked major boo-tay, so it’s an extra looooong post. Carina, you’re an amazing girl, I wish you nothing but the best in all your future artistic endeavors. What can I say other than I LOVE doing Quince photo sessions. They’re like fashion shoots without the cranky models! I get to plan the production including wardrobe, props, location and then I get to direct and have a pre-visualized idea of what I want to get from the session. We started out at a beach, moved on to an urban setting, and then went back to another little beach for some sweet spot sunset shots that I’m ridiculously excited about because they came out exactly how I planned them. Location lighting is my new boyfriend, it’s all I think about, all I want to do, and I sooo look forward to seeing it again!  Alex was game for everything, which is the key to any successful photo shoot. The last jumping shot took five tries and was literally THE last shot, and so worth it. Alex, you’re a superstar! ♥ Vanessa

I didn’t know how to start this post. You see, this is my very sweet, beautiful, adorable niece Lourdes. My cousin (her Mom) and I had been out of touch for many years; in part because we live in different countries, but also because life happens and we allow it to dictate too many things. Yet, through the awesomeness of Facebook, we got back in touch. She e-mailed me about photographing Lourdes for her Quince (Fifteens). They were planning a special trip from Panama to Miami and she wanted to surprise her with the photo shoot. I LOVED the idea. The catch….they would be arriving within the week, would be in Miami for two days only and I had never really spoken to my niece or seen her in over 5 years.

So, I e-mailed her links to different sessions on my blog where she could choose a location and get ideas for wardrobe, we agreed on the date and time, and planned to meet 45 minutes prior to the session to decide which outfits and accessories would be in the shoot. As it turns out, the day of the session was THE most beautiful day of that week. EVERYTHING was perfect. And, as you can see, Lourdes is just a natural beauty. I am absolutely certain that higher forces were at play bringing all the pieces together perfectly for this shoot that also brought my cousin and her family back in my life. I’m so thankful for those three hours we got to spend together, sharing this gift, the gift that was given to me that I could now freely give. This session was magical on many levels and truly a gift from above.

I don’t usually post THIS many photos in a single post because I like to keep a few surprises for my clients, but since this is not really a client in the traditional sense, I thought I’d give you an insight into what a full session looks like, and MAN!! do I love this session.

I’ve written time and time again about the heat during summer photo sessions. Although September doesn’t really qualify as summer, I was so relieved when Jade decided to postpone her session until November (when the weather gets a little better) so she wouldn’t melt in the heat. Thank goodness for that as everything was absolutely perfect this November day. The light was beautiful, the park, the beach, the model, and even the huge crazy duck that wobbled right up to me demanding food provided the right amount of comedy to an already great day (see his picture below). My favorite shot of the session is this first one which is so subtle and soft. Mr. M will be regretting his decision (right Jade? *wink*). ♥ Vanessa
