It seems lately that all the S12 Senior photo sessions are from out of state. Brooke came from Ohio for her fabulous graduation photos. We did one session in the studio and one on location, and both were absolutely amazing. Her eyes are incredible and her style is all her own. Love her boldness and sass. Great job Brooke! ♥ Vanessa

All the way from West Virginia, Madison came to town with a sweet classy bohemian style that’s right up my alley. We did her graduation photos in 93° heat, but this cool grad was in perfect form. Loved her outfits, her accessories and her attitude even more. Mom was just as cool and fun. Had such a great time in this shoot. Madison, you’re gorgeous! The rest of the images will be ready soon…enjoy! ♥ Vanessa

This cool spunky girl came from Illinois for a very cool S12 Senior Photo shoot. July didn’t disappoint with it’s hotness or mosquitoes, but neither did the light nor the model. Kelsey has an amazing pair of blue eyes that were set perfectly against turquoise color outfits which made them pop brilliantly. She valiantly sported a leather jacket, rocked a gorgeous flirty dress and we wrapped it all up with some tennis-themed shots to reflect her favorite sport. A great girl and a great shoot. Congratulations on your Senior year Kelsey! ♥ Vanessa

This kindred spirit is Carina, a beautiful, smart and confident young woman I had the pleasure of photographing the last week of April. Her Mom had called the week before about her daughter’s Quince portraits. I usually plan the sessions with plenty of time prior to the shoot date, but I was going to be out of town and Carina was going to be getting braces soon, so time was of the essence. We spoke on the phone about the styling, she e-mailed me photos of her outfits and we set the date, time and locations. On the day of the shoot, they came to the studio where we were kicking things off with a few fashion shots before heading out to the other two locations. I Got the music going, the fan for some hair action, and, from the first click, I knew this session was going to be magic. As the session moved on, I found out that Carina is a budding artist herself, she loves photography, is a dancer and is learning to play the guitar. LOVE it! When she and Mom were talking about her birthday party, I asked her when her birthday was, and we share the same birthday! Well, needless to say, this session kicked major boo-tay, so it’s an extra looooong post. Carina, you’re an amazing girl, I wish you nothing but the best in all your future artistic endeavors. I’ll see you both soon, enjoy! ♥ Vanessa

What can I say other than I LOVE doing Quince photo sessions. They’re like fashion shoots without the cranky models! I get to plan the production including wardrobe, props, location and then I get to direct and have a pre-visualized idea of what I want to get from the session. We started out at a beach, moved on to an urban setting, and then went back to another little beach for some sweet spot sunset shots that I’m ridiculously excited about because they came out exactly how I planned them. Location lighting is my new boyfriend, it’s all I think about, all I want to do, and I sooo look forward to seeing it again!  Alex was game for everything, which is the key to any successful photo shoot. The last jumping shot took five tries and was literally THE last shot, and so worth it. Alex, you’re a superstar! ♥ Vanessa

It was the end of the year and Nicole came down with Mom, Dad, best friend and family dog in tow for her super fashionable S12 Senior session at the beach. Did I mention they drove? From Michigan?!?!?! Yeah, a loooooooooooooooonng way. I was a little cold, wearing a fleece sweater, nose dripping, eyes tearing….and Nicole’s Dad was in SHORTS. Ha! So funny. I think we Floridians are hilarious during “winter” – freezing in 60°. This day was a dream, oh so beautiful….exactly the reason why the rest of the country flocks our way at this time of year…absolutely perfect for a photo shoot. Nicole knocked it out like a pro. Take a look and drop her some blog love (comments)… Enjoy! ♥ Vanessa

I’ve written time and time again about the heat during summer photo sessions. Although September doesn’t really qualify as summer, I was so relieved when Jade decided to postpone her session until November (when the weather gets a little better) so she wouldn’t melt in the heat. Thank goodness for that as everything was absolutely perfect this November day. The light was beautiful, the park, the beach, the model, and even the huge crazy duck that wobbled right up to me demanding food provided the right amount of comedy to an already great day (see his picture below). My favorite shot of the session is this first one which is so subtle and soft. Mr. M will be regretting his decision (right Jade? *wink*). ♥ Vanessa

This session was on my calendar since the beginning of the year. We had talked about clothing, locations, colors, invitations, theme, hair, make-up…you name it…we talked about it. The session day finally arrived and it was AMAZING! Granted, it was exhausting, but being a photographer doesn’t get much more fun than this…three locations and five hours, and a client that’s open to try anything especially at night, on Lincoln Road, in front of tons of people. The session started with formal shots, then moved to some casual beach shots, ending with one-light experimentation at night in Miami Beach!  We had drinks, toasted to Sophie’s Fifteen years, and had appetizers at a little Italian restaurant (with cool shots in front of the wine rack). Then, two days later I was photographing her ultra chic birthday party (I’ll post some of those soon). What can one say other than, awesome… I now realize that multiplying the numbers (3 locations/5 hours) equals 15! Mmmmhhh…weird don’t you think? Sophie, you are lovely, smart, and wise beyond your years; always stay true to you and you shall reach beyond your wildest dreams. Happy 15! ♥ Vanessa

At long last! I promised this sweet girl a blog post of her fabulous sessions and had not been able to deliver because it’s been CRA.ZY!! I made an extra long post, I confess, out of guilt at first; but once I started, it became obvious that I just needed to show more because they came out so amazing!  The first few shots were on location on one of THE hottest days of October. I mean, it was H.O.T. The poor thing had to haul around the dress and Mom nearly fainted in the bathroom trying to get it on. But, they went with the flow so graciously and so composed that I knew we were going to get beautiful images. We finished up the first location and went on to wrap it up at the beach where Lauren knocked it out of the park also. Yet, we weren’t able to get to a favorite outfit that Lauren wanted to do, so a couple of weeks later we did a studio session to get those in and incorporate some of her favorite things to do, like listening to music and reading. The second time around was even better. Lauren, you’re a beautiful, intelligent, and vibrant girl…I loved photographing you and I wish you lots of joy on this birthday and all the ones to come. ♥ Vanessa

There’s so much in photography, as much as in life, that you just have to feel your way through…just sort of go with the flow. This session was just that. There are many great shots that I’ll be posting in a couple of days, but couldn’t wait to share this one. I love the feel of it. ♥
